RECRUITMENT - ENTRY LEVEL ADMIN ASSISTANT

WHY THIS ROLE IS SPECIAL

This role was created for law students seeking experience in a law firm - wanting to know what it’s like to work in a law firm; interact with lawyers and experience the law.

In particular:
(a)  the role is a good entry pathway to becoming a paralegal.  Our previous admin assistants have progressed to become our skilled paralegals;

(b) first and second year law students are encouraged to apply - many of our team members were first or second year students;

(c) we provide comprehensive training for the role - new team members are always pleasantly surprised with the quality and detail of the training;

(d) the role is part-time - you can choose to work two or three days a week, and reduce to one day a week during exams.

WHAT'S INVOLVED?

Your daily tasks include writing receipts, checking notices in e-newspapers, sending reminder emails, scanning documents, and keeping the office tidy.

Don’t worry, we’ll teach you how!  We provide comprehensive training and support, so that you can learn, improve and excel in this role.  No prior experience is required; we'll train you.

This is an entry role and suitable for persons with little or no experience in administration.

ELIGIBILITY & IDEALS

Our two requirements for this role is that you have:
1. a typing speed of at least 58 words per minute; and
2. an appropriate Australian work visa or be an Australian citizen.
Ideally, you are or will be soon, a first or second year law student.

HOW TO APPLY

Step 1.  Prepare the following as separate PDF documents, your:
(a)  CV;
(b)  cover letter; and
(c)  academic transcript.
Please do not supply Word documents.

For your academic transcript, if you have completed at least three university subjects, provide your university transcript.  If you have not completed three university subjects, provide your high school transcript (Queensland students, that's your Senior Statement from QCAA which shows your subjects and grades, not your ATAR result).

We accept unofficial transcripts for applications.  Official transcripts required on hire.

Step 2.  Attach the three documents into an email.

Step 3.  Send the email to [email protected].  If this ad has been re-posted on another website, the email will not appear - visit our website for details instead.

Applications which do not meet the above criteria, will not be considered.  We only review emailed applications.  Applications uploaded via portals (e.g. using an ‘Apply Now’ button) will not be considered as they do not reach our HR Recruitment System.

Mr Shen Chow, will be reviewing your application.  You may receive an out-of-office email when you apply, as Shen is on holiday; however he intends to review applications immediately on his return.

We look forward to hearing from you!

TIPS

The cover letter is your free kick.

We assume that if you're applying, you're going to be reliable, hard-working and using all the skills you have accumulated; so you don’t have to tell us that.

Use the cover letter as an opportunity to help you stand out from the other applicants.  Examples:

1. tell us something that we can't learn from reading your CV;

2. clarify things in your CV; or

3. show your personality, passion for the position, or to narrate your life and work history.
